Fall Faculty Academy

Great clinicians are not born teachers.

The Academy helps veterinary technology faculty make the leap from expert practitioner to confident educator. Built by people who have done the work.

Why this exists

Vet tech faculty arrive with deep clinical expertise. What they often do not arrive with are the teaching skills that make a classroom work. Course design, assessment, reading a room full of students, and now teaching in a world with AI. Nobody hands you those, whether you are in your first semester or your fifth year.

The Academy fills that gap. It is a practical foundation in teaching, built for faculty who came to education from clinical practice, and grounded in AVTE's belief that student success is a shared walk forward. One Community, at every stage of the walk.

What you'll build

Adult learning
How adults actually learn and how to design your teaching around it.
Course design
Backward design and planning, so a course holds together from day one to the final.
Assessment
Building assessments you can trust to measure what actually matters.
AI in the classroom
Teaching well in a world your students already live in.

How it works

The Academy runs virtually from October through December. The cohort comes together early, mentor groups form, and the experience builds from there. Live half-day sessions with flexible morning and afternoon options, lighter work in between, and a shared space where the conversation keeps going.

This is not a two-day workshop you forget by Friday. It is three months of support, built around the relationships that make the job sustainable.

Who it's for

This program is built for veterinary technology faculty, coordinators and instructors alike, who came to teaching from clinical practice and want to sharpen how they teach. Whether you are in your first semester or strengthening skills built over years, this is for you.

From the start you join a small group of three to five colleagues and an experienced mentor who stays with you through December. You leave with more than new skills. You leave with a cohort.
