Recap: Americans with Disabilities Act Title II Web and Mobile Application Accessibility Rule (Virtual)
Thank you to everyone who joined Leah Rodzik, Director of Instructional Development and Training at Cape Fear Community College for our discussion on the new ADA Title II web-accessibility rule and its impact on veterinary technician programs. Her tips to ensure accessible digital resources for all covered the whys of the new rules, common sense practical tips, what built in tools are in your software and more. Here are just a few:
- Choose easy to read font types. Avoid cursive.
- Mark headings using the formatting tools, not just font size
- Add "alt text" to images
- Look for the accessibility checkers already built into Microsoft
- EXPORT (not print) to PDF to keep accessible formatting
- Google Docs provides advice and suggests extensions to help
